Naruto Season 1 Episode 51
THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. The first half of 51 was boring but the second half was quite alright! The animation got so much better.
Jiraiya, one of the legendary Three Ninja, suddenly appears before Ebisu and Naruto. Naruto gives Jiraiya the nickname, 'Pervy Sage.' Watch Naruto Season 2 Episode 51, A Shadow in Darkness: Danger Approaches. Genin who fail the exam.
I didn't like the fillers though (eg. Naruto tripping) but meh, at least they weren't flashbacks hahaha Then 52 starts off with a few flashbacks. How many times can they recap that one fight?! F.ck it was annoying. At least they made Sasuke look good. The rest was either a hit or miss. In all, I was disappointed with this special.
It had some good scenes but trying to extend the confrontation made it so arduous and boring to watch. I'm not happy.

I'm not happy. I totaly agree new tag added to naruto: overdose of flashbacks. NabeShogun said: As many predicted, (almost) one episode's worth of content stretched to an hour special. That about sums it up. I was okay with the first episode being slow and dramatic regarding Sasuke, but it turned out that both episodes were slow and dramatic and nothing really happened. Chidori Nagashi and Sasuke's suppression of the kyuubi were both cool and important, but they should have occurred in the first episode and been followed by action in the second.
Disappointing, but at least they've found Sasuke. Radiantfire said: The first half of 51 was boring but the second half was quite alright!

In all, I was disappointed with this special. It had some good scenes but trying to extend the confrontation made it so arduous and boring to watch. I'm not happy. It was 20 min Flashbacks, 2-3 min was extended to 10 min by making everything SLOW MOTION!!! And the last 10 min about (or less) was any actual progress!!! Haha, everyone is quick to bitch about the flashbacks, but few pointed out the good parts. I gave the episode a 5, since we got to finally see Sasuke and he looked pretty badass.
His new full body Chidori is AMAZING, and that sword could go up against a lightsaber any day. I went to Japan and bought a wicked Sasuke shirt from a Jump store for my cousin, and that is when I first noticed the sword. The sword kicked Yamato's ass. And when Sasuke used the Sharingan to enter Naruto, I thought that was pretty intense. He stood up for Naruto which I think is a huge element to their bond development. So, I'm more interested in the Kyubi's comment, 'Do not kill Naruto, you will regret it.'
Like, WTF did he mean? I have always thought that if Naruto dies, so does the Kyubi, unless it is extracted of course.
Am I wrong and was it a threat to Sasuke, saying that if he kills Naruto, afterward the kyubi would kill Sasuke. Or was he appealing to Sasuke's emotions to convince him that he should not kill Naruto? Either way, the comment came across as strange to me. Anyways, as expected Sasuke is still a head case seeking revenge and nothing else. I look forward to seeing certain surprises coming up that manga readers have ruined for me on other MAL threads. Yeah, flashback's suck, but I have got to say, ITS A WHOLE LOT BETTER THAN NARUTO FILLER.
Just thinking of Naruto filler makes me sick. RadiantFire, great word 'arduous'. It does depict the feeling while watching another repetitive flashback. And there is no way that these slow scenes are as arduous as DBZ's constant delays before every fight. That was just ridiculous. I'm also not too sure what the Kyuubi meant by saying 'Do not kill Naruto.' Though I have to disagree with Renegade and say that I don't think Sasuke was sticking up for Naruto.
Sasuke knows that the only power Naruto really has at all IS the Kyuubi. All Sasuke has to do is stop the Kyuubi and Naruto can't do anything but fire a few Rasengans and make 50,000 clones which die at once because of Sasuke's new upgraded Chidori. And I have to say, I'm really disappointed with Naruto anymore. It's really not what I ever expected or wanted it to be. At least DBZ had SOME action. Naruto is just flash back after flash back after flash back.
I'd prefer they had 10 episodes of action then 10 episodes of filler so I could just skip the episodes of filler rather than having to deal with filler being inserted in canon material via flashback. The whole not killing me thing is simple, when he is close to death its more easy for the kyubi to take control and Sasuke wasn't helping him, he knows the kyubi is his only weapon that might give him trouble. I think kyubi meant that the Akatsuki will come after sasuke and kill him if he kills naruto.( is a guess i don't read manga at all)I think they should change Naruto shippuuden to a drama or a talk show. They talk too much. Wow, so instead of the usual 20min of boredom, we get 40min of boredom. I really hoped for Sai's snakes to just hurry the f up and poke Sasukes eyes out or something. But instead, we get him standing around for half an hour with everyone doing their best Carebear- omgzSaskay stare at him.
Granted, there was like 5min worth of cool stuff in this ep too, Kyuubi and owning Yamato, but meh. If the April 'special' turns out to be as exciting, I think I'll let this show finally rest for good.

The Akatsuki are just a front to throw everyone off of what Uchiha Mandara really wants with the beasts. So to answer your question, no one knows what he truly ment or what will happen if both him and Naruto die. If Naruto dies the Kyubi does as stated in past episodes and in the manga on the other hand if the seal isn't dealt with soon the Kyubi will brake free. That trip was ridiculous.
A boy who can fly through trees with injuries and lack of sleep; who just ran down those same hallways looking for Sasuke. Tripped over a invisible crack in the ground.
Are you shittin' me? I started getting a 80's horror movies flashback -And who in the hell needs anymore flashbacks when watching Naruto- Then it occurred to me this has turned into a horror flick. One that for some reason I'm compelled to watch every week. Then bitch about every week. Alright, see everyone here April 3 for another go round of why we hate Naruto - But we'll continue to watch, because of we have formed a S&M relationship with the creators of Naruto and enjoy the week to week torture- err. That was just ridiculous. Sasuke did not stand up for Naruto. I don't think his action was suppressing the Kyuubi, but just his image. He simply showed his arrogant nature, not only to Naruto, but to the Kyuubi.
I don't think the Kyuubi was talking about any sort of hidden feelings from Sasuke towards Naruto. Simply, if Naruto is on the verge, it's most likely for him to rely on the Kyuubi.
After not watching Naruto since episode 17 (I watched 26 and the 29-30 special together randomly just after the 29-30 special aired), I decided to give this 'special' a go since it's the part we were shown at the very start of Shippuuden; when we all had high hopes for the series. An horrendous amount of panning and static shots kill this, a shounen, right from the get go. Of course, panning is much cheaper than creating flowing action sequences to extend the episodes with, so Studio Pie went for the cheapest option without hesitation. The few bits of real animation on offer (where there's more than a panning shot and mouth/eye movement) were painfully slow and low budget. There really was very little special about this woefully named 'special'.
Naruto Season 1 Episode 53
What I really don't understand is why most of the godly episode 1 intro was near enough entirely replaced by lower quality material. For a company as cheap and low budget as Stuido Pie, I would've thought it logical to use as much as humanly possible from what we saw at the start of Shippuuden when attempting to extend the sequence for as long as humanly possible. To make matters even worse and Shippuuden even more boring, the flashbacks were stretched to the max. When flashbacks are used correctly the last for a few seconds, remind you of a scene and the focus quickly returns to the action, but in Shippuuden the entire scenes are shown.obviously only that long to waste more time than constant panning and staring allows.basically, this 'special' reminded me why I dropped Shippuuden and why I now only read the manga.
